Why you should quite quit!

Quite quitting is the new phenomenon that has been hitting the workforce in recent months. There are videos on YouTube, TikTok, and post talking about Quiet quitting. Those of you who are not familiar with the term. Quiet quitting is when you do your job. You do not go above and beyond. You do not seek to exceed expectations. You only do what is required of you, nothing more and nothing less. For those within my age bracket, we called it acting our wage. It is amazing that as time flies' old concepts are just renamed but remain the same.

Now that this has been said, let me tell you why you should quiet quit your job.

  1. You should only go above and beyond in your personal life or for your own business other than that is completely useless.  The reward for going above and beyond at your job is to the extent that the organization values you and no matter what you are not an owner at any given point in time and for any reason, you can be terminated.  Go above and beyond for yourself in your personal life where it truly matters.

  2. You were hired for one job. This is the only job that you should do. Employers have no problem when they want you to do multiple jobs but when you are the office helper, it will come to bite you in the behind. Do your job and do it well

  1. and then go home. Spend time with family and friends, you do not get that time back!

  2. Take time for yourself. I have worked many extra hours for a job even to have one reach a point there they did not pay us. Your employer is not loyal to you. They are loyal to the business and the bottom line. You must be loyal to yourself. You must also take time for yourself. Take the day off. Do not answer any work-related emails or calls. You owe it to yourself to rest. You owe it to yourself to connect with yourself.

Quiet quitting is professional self-care. You do not have to tell anyone that you are doing it, just simply do it. You owe it to yourself to show up for you!
